A peaceful and natural site close to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, with the Preseli Hills lending a spectacular backdrop.
Located on the Pencaer Peninsular, within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and with excellent road access, Trefechan Wen is ideally situated for exploring the world renowned Pembrokeshire Coast. Just a short walk away, the coastal path around the peninsular is certainly among the most stunningly beautiful sections of the North Pembrokeshire coastline, with its rugged cliffs offering not just amazing views but also the home for wildlife. From the clifftops watch families of Atlantic seals basking in secluded coves and many varieties of seabirds swoop over the wave tops below. Strumble Head lighthouse is just over four miles away on foot or a similar distance by road. It is a mecca for those in search of bird and sea life, as well as its unique photo opportunities!
In an elevated position, our flat to gently sloping campsite faces south east and boasts spectacular views of the Preseli Hills, ideal for early risers to catch the rising sun. At night, look up and enjoy the panoply of stars and planets at their best in this dark sky area. At dusk, watch bats flitting about and listen out for the calls of nearby owls. The surrounding land is home for foxes and badgers. Elusive and wary as they often are, you may be treated to a glimpse or two. In springtime, wildflowers include our favourite, bluebells, burst into life providing a pallet of vibrant colour, attracting their attendant bees and butterflies.
We are a small, peaceful, natural site, with 15 pitches over approximately 2.5 acres, between two meadows and within a holding of about seven acres. Ten pitches are exclusively for tented camping and a further five for touring units are in a more open part of the site. Within a recently restored wildflower meadow with young tree plantings, each tent pitch has found its own place and is separated from its neighbour by natural areas of longer grasses and/or young trees, mostly alder, willow, aspen and oak.
Our ethos is based on our love and respect for all living things. In particular to support local wildlife and encourage continued re-establishment and growth of indigenous wildflowers and their attendant pollinators.
No dogs please, just well-behaved humans from any place in the spectrum of life, looking to relax in nature and to explore the local natural and historical landmarks! History abounds nearby, including Carreg Wasted point, site of the last invasion attempt of the UK, along with more ancient monuments, including hill forts and burial chambers.
Unplug and reconnect in this amazing, beautiful and peaceful place! You will receive a warm welcome and leave with lasting memories.
